Conference on raising awareness on grassroots level on ethical violation
On 12th October a conference has been held to present the research conducted by the IPP team about the ethical violations in the higher educational institutions. The conference has been held at Hyatt place from 10 AM to 2 PM. The audience included both students from public and private universities and policymakers, researchers, professors and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
The conference has started with the opening remarks by Liana Amirbekyan, Senior Project Manager at Council of Europe and Arevik Anapiosyan, the executive director of Institute of Public Policy, Syuzi Ghazaryan, representative of Ministry of RA of Education and science who has told about the rationale behind the research, and the importance of having a research like this the methodology of the research and the key findings of the research.
The first panel has started with the discussion of the causes and the consequences of the ethical violations at the HEI.The speakers have been Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the project coordinator of the research and Rafayel Shirakyan, a research fellow at the IPP. The second panel of the conference has hosted various representatives o Armenian NGOs who are advocating, raising awareness and working with the students: Narine Aleksanyan, Council of Europe, Armenak Minasyants, AEGEE Yerevan, and Monika Vardanyan, Apella Institute of Public Policy.
Narine Aleksanyan has shared with the experience of the policies and procedures of the French University in Armenia regarding the integrity. Monica has gone to speaking about the academic hackathon organized by Apella Institute about the academic integrity.
Armenak has spoken about the public policy regarding the academic integrity and the several conferences AEGEE has organized where the organization has made efforts to raise awareness
The conference has been closed by the concluding remarks by Avetiq Mejlumyan (IPP) and Arevik Anapiosyan. (IPP)
